Durability range
The expected time to first major maintenance of a coating system, expressed in ISO 12944-1 as low, medium, high or very high. It is a planning parameter used to select a system against a corrosivity category — explicitly not a warranty and not a guarantee period.
Durability is half of the specification input. The corrosivity category says how aggressive the environment is; the durability range says how long the system has to survive it. A system is selected against the pair, never against either alone.
Confusing durability with warranty is a common and expensive error: it promises the owner something no supplier offered, and it usually surfaces at the first maintenance inspection.
