Privacy policy

This site collects as little as possible. No advertising, no third-party tracking, no profiling, no data resale. Nothing is measured until you accept it.
What is collected without your consent
Nothing. No cookie is set and no measurement script is loaded until you click "Accept" in the banner. If you decline, or ignore the banner, no analytics request is ever sent.
Netlify, the host, keeps technical server logs (IP address, browser, page requested) for security and availability purposes. This is inherent to serving a web page and is not used to build a profile.
If you accept measurement cookies
Google Analytics 4 loads, operated by Google LLC (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). The property used by this site is G-639GRRETZ1.
It records page views, approximate origin, browser and device type. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses — that behaviour is built into the product and cannot be turned off. Google advertising signals and ad personalisation are switched off on this property: the site has no advertising use for them, and leaving them on would widen the compliance surface for nothing.
Purpose: knowing which pages are actually useful, so editorial effort goes where it is read. Legal basis: your consent, and nothing else — Law 25 s. 8.1 and GDPR art. 6(1)(a).
Two cookies are set, both first-party and both lasting two years: "_ga", which distinguishes one browser from another, and "_ga_639GRRETZ1", which maintains the session state for this property. No other cookie is set by this site.
You can withdraw your consent at any time using the button at the bottom of this page. It takes one click, removes the choice, and no further measurement request leaves your browser.
Google publishes its own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy, and offers a browser add-on that blocks Google Analytics on every site at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Technical review form
The form collects only what is needed to answer: name, email, equipment and operating environment, problem description. Consent is explicit and never pre-ticked.
Submissions are processed by Netlify Forms and forwarded by email. They are used to answer your request, and never added to a marketing list without a separate opt-in.
A honeypot field blocks automated submissions. There is no captcha, so nothing is sent to a third party for verification.
Calculators
Calculations run entirely in your browser. The values you enter — areas, thicknesses, product characteristics — are never sent to any server, and are never recorded in analytics. They are technical project data and are treated as such.
Your last entries are kept in your browser local storage so you do not lose them on refresh. A "Reset" button clears them.
What is stored in your browser
Your consent choice, so the banner does not reappear at every page. Your last calculator entries. Nothing else.
These are local storage entries, not cookies sent to a server. Clearing your browser data for this site removes them.
If, and only if, you accepted measurement, the two Google Analytics cookies described above are also present: "_ga" and "_ga_639GRRETZ1".
Retention
Technical review requests are kept for as long as needed to handle them and any follow-up, then deleted.
Event-level analytics data is retained by Google Analytics 4 for 14 months, then deleted automatically. That is the longest a standard property allows.
Standard aggregate reports — visit counts per page over time — are not subject to that expiry. What disappears after 14 months is the granular data behind custom explorations, not the traffic history itself.
Your rights
Under Quebec Law 25 and the GDPR, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and withdraw consent at any time.
The person in charge of the protection of personal information is H. Marouazi, for Induscoat Canada. Write through the contact form, stating what you are asking for; requests are answered within 30 days, the deadline set by Law 25.
You are also entitled to lodge a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, or with your national supervisory authority if you are in the European Union.
Transfers outside Quebec
Hosting (Netlify) and analytics (Google LLC) involve processing in the United States. Both are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and by the standard contractual clauses in their data processing terms.
Being straight about the limit of that: no contractual safeguard makes United States law disappear. If you decline measurement, no analytics data leaves your browser at all — which is the only guarantee that does not depend on a third party.
Withdraw your consent
Your current choice is stored in this browser. Withdrawing it clears that choice and deletes any measurement cookies already set.
